Who's Booked

Organised by Cath Lee

Fully booked, but a waiting list can be started in case anyone needs to drop out.  Contact Cath Lee, if you’re interested, but haven’t yet booked.

Dates – Wednesday 2nd – Wednesday 9th October 2024.  The mid-week dates have been chosen to coincide with EasyJet direct flights from Manchester.  Midweek flights tend to be cheaper than weekends.

Flights – Book your own EasyJet flights:

Wednesday 2 October. EZY2251. Depart Manchester 14:55. Arrive Hurghada 22.35.

Wednesday 9 October. EZY2252. Depart Hurghada 23.35. Arrive Manchester 3.35 on 10th.

Some club members have taken the decision to fly back a day or couple of days later, and book a hotel for after the official trip ends.

Itinerary – Sailing out of either Hurghada or Port Ghalib (not sure which yet), the plan is to visit dive sites along the south west Red Sea coast.  Mainly reefs, including Sataya Reef (home to a large pod of Spinner Dolphins), and the Fury Shoals reefs which are claimed to be some of the most pristine reefs in Egypt.  In addition to dolphins, there should be a good chance of seeing giant sea turtles, maybe a dugong, and possibly sharks.

It’s suitable for anyone who will be qualified to Sports Diver or above at the time that the holiday takes place.

Boat – MY Charlotte (see pictures below). A 31m liveaboard, with 12 cabins, taking up to 24 guests. Large air conditioned salon/dining area. Upper sun-deck.  Shaded rear sun deck, and front sun deck.  Spacious kitting up deck.  As our club is unlikely to fill all of the available places, we’ll be sharing it with other divers who will have booked through a UK agent.  The boat is owned and managed by English couple Paul and Jane Cooper who are usually on the boat throughout the trip.  I’ve stayed on this boat 3 times before and each time had a fabulous diving holiday.

Cost – £950 per person with a £250 non-refundable deposit payable upon booking,  and the balance by the beginning of August 2024.  However if 10 or more of us from Lunesdale Divers book, then we’ll qualify for a discount.  The price is based on two people sharing a cabin. It includes:

  • Six days of guided diving (dependent upon flight times making that possible, allowing for 24 hours between the last dive and the flight home)
  • All meals whilst on the boat
  • Soft drinks
  • Loan of tanks and weights
  • Nitrox up to 28%
  • Transfers to and from the airport in Egypt

Not included are:

  • Flights
  • Local taxes and port fees (estimate around £160 per person)
  • Gratuities
  • Alcoholic drinks (Beer available to buy on the boat, or you can take your own duty free on board if you wish)
  • Any meals taken off the boat.

Everyone will be responsible for booking and paying for their own flight once flight schedules are announced.

Our group booking for the liveaboard will be made through KLJ Diver Travel Ltd.
