Who's Booked

Join us for a summer social walk in The Howgill Fells!

Meeting in Sedbergh at 9:30am, we’re going to enjoy a stroll along the River Rawthay, and then take a path and lane around the base of the fells, before starting our ascent, steeply up the hillside next to Cautley Spout – England’s highest waterfall.  From there, we continue to the summit of The Calf, which is the highest mountain in the Howgills range.  If it’s a clear day. we’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside.  We’ll then follow a good path along the top of the Howgill fells to eventually descend back down to Sedbergh.  No doubt we’ll end our walk in a local pub!

The distance of the walk is about 16.5km (10 miles) with approximately 800 metres of ascent/descent, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed.  You’ll also need a packed lunch, plenty of water, suitable hill walking clothing (including a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast), a small rucksack, and hiking boots, fell running shoes, or similar (trainers are not suitable).

Friends, family members and well behaved dogs are all welcome.  As there are likely to be sheep around, dogs must be kept on a lead or under very close control.

Everyone participates at their own risk, and is responsible for looking after themselves and their own safety.

Organised by Becky Townend.  Please book via the website below, and also message Rebecca Townend via Whats App to let her know how many friends or family members you’re bringing with you.
