A day out diving on Spellbinder II, launching from South Shields. The boat can carry up to 12 divers comfortably, and has a hydraulic diver lift platform and jet drive propulsion. For more information about the boat see https://www.divespellbinder.co.uk/
There is the possibility that this could be a Seasearch Observer sign off dive for those who have done the Seasearch theory training.
Dive Manager – Kerry Rennie.
Cost £35 each if we fill boat, including drinks and a hot meal after dives, so please put in the [notes/comment] whether you want meat-free option.
Parking has been free when I’ve been there before and you can offload right by the pontoon, on the riverside of the Customs House, NE33 1ES, before shifting the cars to the adjacent car park and hopping on the boat.
I’ll be liaising with the Skipper to choose the best dive sites. There’ll be 2 or 3 dives either north to the Coquet to St Mary’s marine conservation zone (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/492010/mcz-coquet-st-marys-factsheet.pdf), or south of the Tyne to Durham Heritage Coast. Plan is to focus on scenic dives, less than 30m, but there may be opportunity for one of the dives to be a wreck.
Please bring 2 tanks or equivalent.
